Moving can be a very stressful time for you however there are actions which can be taken to alleviate some of your headache. At the top of that list would be discarding all the junk. The best method would be a starting point which is the bathroom. How many half empty shampoo bottles do you own? Along with many other partially used items that can go right into the trash. Try to finish one room before you attempt another…this is what we call, organization. If you try to tackle more then one room, it will mount up and you will loose any remaining sanity. Lastly, if you haven’t used it in at least a year (room for seasons) then you don’t need it, dump it!
Key Takeaways:
- Due to moving already being emotionally taxing, starting in the bathroom where there is less likely a chance of running into old photographs or souvenirs will help to make the process more relaxing.
- Make sure that you have all the supplies needed for a move, including trash bags, something to shred confidential information with, permanent markers, boxes and tape if needed.
- Moving is hard and can be very stressful, giving yourself a reward such as going out to eat afterwards or relaxing will help take some of that stress away.
“Try blocking out a short period of time to tackle, say, one closet or bedroom drawer, and work from there. Start small as you get a handle on how long the decluttering task will take.”
